Shield N Shelter (shieldnshelter.com) provides independent residential security consulting to homeowners in the United States. This policy explains what information we handle, why we hold it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

The promises that define our practice

Security consulting involves unusually sensitive information. You are showing us exactly where your home is weakest. Three commitments follow from that, and they are not negotiable:

• Your consultation is never recorded. Virtual walkthroughs happen live, on the video app you choose. We make no recording and we store none.
• Your floor plans are deleted on request. Floor plans, photographs and property notes exist for one purpose: producing your assessment. Ask us to delete them once your report is delivered and we will, permanently.
• We never sell, rent or trade your information. Not to marketers, not to equipment brands, not to installers, not to anyone. We earn nothing from your data.

What we collect

When you book an assessment

The booking form collects your name, email address, phone number, the service you are interested in, your preferred date and time slot, and any note you add. It is stored on our own server and used to schedule and deliver your engagement.

When you send material for an assessment

To produce a blueprint we may receive floor plans, photographs or video of your property, notes on your existing equipment, and a description of your concerns. This is the most sensitive category of information we hold, and we treat it accordingly: it is used only to produce your deliverable, it is never shared outside the engagement, and it is deleted on request.

When you email us

We keep the correspondence so that we can answer you and support you afterwards.

When you comment on an article

WordPress records the name and email address you supply, along with your IP address and browser user agent, as a standard spam-prevention measure.

Automatically

Our web server keeps ordinary access logs: IP address, page requested, timestamp and user agent. These exist for security and troubleshooting.

What we do not collect

This site runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no fingerprinting and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. If you read this site without submitting a form or leaving a comment, you are not identified, profiled or tracked by us.

Cookies

Browsing this site sets no cookies. A cookie appears only if you leave a comment, where WordPress can store your name and email so you do not have to retype them, or if you log in to an account here. Because there is no advertising or analytics cookie to consent to, you will not find a cookie banner on this site.

Why we are permitted to hold it

• To perform our contract with you: scheduling, producing and supporting your assessment.
• Our legitimate interests: answering enquiries, keeping the site secure, and maintaining ordinary business records.
• Your consent: where you volunteer property material or choose to leave a comment. You may withdraw it at any time.
• Legal obligation: retaining financial records where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Property material (floor plans, photographs, video, notes): until you ask us to delete it, or [RETENTION PERIOD] after your report is delivered, whichever comes first.
• Your assessment report: retained so we can support you afterwards. Deletable on request.
• Booking and enquiry records: [RETENTION PERIOD].

Who else can see it

We use a small number of service providers to run the business. They process information on our instructions only and cannot use it for their own purposes:

• Our web hosting provider, which stores the site and its database.
• Our email delivery provider, which transmits messages between us.

We share information with no one else, except where we are legally compelled to, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not disclose client property information to equipment vendors, installers or insurers.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct anything inaccurate;
• delete what we hold, including your property material;
• stop using it for a particular purpose;
• provide it in a portable format.

Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have these rights by statute, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA and CPRA, so there is nothing for you to opt out of.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to client material is limited to the people working on your engagement. Property material is not stored on portable devices or shared drives outside that work. We will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Children

This service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

Where your information is held

Our servers are located in [SERVER LOCATION]. If you contact us from outside that country, your information will be transferred there in order for us to respond.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes affecting how we handle client property material will be notified to active clients by email.
