Why we built these tools
Most disappointing security footage is a geometry problem, not an equipment problem. A camera mounted too high sees the tops of heads; a wide lens pointed at a long driveway detects movement but never captures a usable face. These calculators put the same numbers we use in client work in your hands, so you can check a position before you drill.
For the principles behind the numbers, read our home security camera placement guide, or see how the calculations feed into a full plan in our camera placement planning service.
Are the tools really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no email gate and nothing to install. Everything runs in your browser, and we do not sell cameras or earn commissions on any brand.
