Independent Home Security Consulting
Shield n Shelter exists because the security industry sells boxes, and nobody’s job is to make sure the boxes add up to a protected home. We made it our job — and deliberately made sure it’s our only revenue.
Why we sell advice instead of hardware
Every security installer we’ve ever met is paid by the device. More cameras, bigger package, better month. The result is predictable: houses with six cameras and an unwatched back door, alert feeds nobody opens, and monitoring contracts that outlive the trust in the system itself.
So we removed the incentive. Shield n Shelter charges one flat fee for a plan, earns nothing from any brand, and never touches an installation invoice. When your only product is the quality of the plan, the plan gets very good. We’ve now designed protection for homes in more than 20 countries — every one of them remotely, and every one of them on a floor plan, not a price list.
The four failures we exist to prevent
- Selling hardware instead of coverage — our revenue is the plan, never the device count
- Treating “more cameras” as an answer — placement is the product
- Applying generic packages to unique floor plans
- Replacing planning with monitoring contracts
The Shield n Shelter Framework
Assess
Map every entry point, sightline, and vulnerability against real burglary patterns.
Plan
Prioritize risks by likelihood and impact, matched to your budget and lifestyle.
Design
Specify exact devices, placements, angles, and automation rules on your floor plan.
Optimize
Tune detection zones, alerts, and privacy settings until false alarms disappear.
Monitor
Review the system as seasons, routines, and neighborhood conditions change.
We accept no commissions, no affiliate fees, no referral payments, and no preferred-vendor arrangements — from anyone, ever. Your consultation fee is our entire business model. If a $40 sensor solves it, the plan says a $40 sensor. Your walkthrough is never recorded, and your floor plans are deleted on request.
